UFC champion Conor McGregor has been trying to secure a deal with boxer Floyd Mayweather for months.
And McGregor has tweeted ‘The Fight is on’ in reference to the bout.
Mayweather then posted a video on instagram referencing the date of the clash.
No terms of the agreement have been made public but the likelihood is that the fight which will be a standard 12 rounds, will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Vegas and will be at 154lbs.
Arguments have raged for months over the details of the fight, with McGregor insisting he didn’t need dispensation from the UFC to fight.
McGregor is a three-time champion in UFC and has a boxing license.
The fight is expected to earn both fighters around £78m ($100m).
Discussing how the deal got done, UFC president Dana White said: “We’ve been in negotiations now for a while and to be honest the negotiation went smooth. We got the thing done.
“The impossible deal is now done.”
